This super easy recipe for sugar free chia jam takes only 10 minutes. You can use any fruit of your choosing and make a delicious & healthy chia jam. I made my 3 favourite types of chia jams: blueberry, strawberry & apple, raspberry. Choose the one you like most or try your own favourite recipe!
I love jam but processed jam is made of refined sugar which is a no no if you’re trying to eat healthily. I wanted to try and find a healthier alternative so I decided to make this chia jam recipe without adding any refined sugar. Chia seeds contain fibre, protein and healthy Omega-3 fats and help to thicken jam. In this jam there is only healthy, simple ingredients packed full of nutrients.
This chia jam recipe takes less time to make than traditional jam which can take hours. In this recipe we just need to throw all the ingredients into a saucepan and cook for 5’ until the fruit is soft, you can then add a bit of honey if it is not sweet enough for you. Use a potato masher to break them up. Then add the chia seeds and bring to the boil, then remove from the heat. Leave to cool down while the chia seeds do their work. In a couple hours you will have the most perfect jam-like texture. Don’t forget to scroll down to see the full recipe.
My favourite chia jams are as follows:
*Strawberry & Apple chia jam: a classic combination that also works in a jam format.
*Blueberry chia jam: this jam has a delicious lemony flavour.
*Raspberry chia jam: the intense raspberry flavour of this jam makes it a longtime favorite.
This jam can be spread on bread, pancakes, in a mug cake or on top of a cheesecake. You can make it with any fruit, but it is best if you use watery fruits such us: berries, cherries, oranges, apricots, figs…If you want to experiment a bit with chia jams try a combination of fruits and add your favourite spices to it.

This super easy recipe for sugar free chia jam takes only 10 minutes. I made my 3 favourite types: blueberry, strawberry & apple, raspberry.
- 2 cups strawberries, fresh or frozen
- 1/4 golden apple, peeled and thinly chopped
- 1 Tbsp of water
- 1 Tbsp of chia seeds
- 1 1/2 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
- Zest of ½ lemon
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp of water
- 1 Tbsp of chia seeds
- 1 + 1/2 cups raspberries, fresh or frozen.
- 1 Tbsp of water
- 1 Tbsp of honey (optional)
- 1 Tbsp of chia seeds
Add all the ingredients apart from the chia seeds in toa saucepan over a medium heat and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5' or until they start to soften stirring constantly.
Mash with a potato masher or fork to break up. If you enjoy jam with small chunks of fruit in it, then you're done! If you'd prefer jam with a smoother texture, feel free to add the mixture to your blender. Put it back in the saucepan.
Add the chia seeds and bring to the boil, then remove from the heat and leave to cool down to room temperature while the chia seeds do their work.
Simply pour the mixture into jars and cover with a lid. Store in the fridge and in a couple hours it will have the perfect jam-like texture. This should last for up to 1 week in the fridge.
