These witch fingers or Halloween biscuits are the best dessert for Halloween. They are based on a cookie recipe but instead of the traditional circular shape these “cookies” resemble fingers. Requiring only 6 ingredients these finger cookies are the perfect treat to celebrate Halloween.
These biscuits bake very quickly, and they look really terrific. I add a bit of my homemade Strawberry Chia Jam which looks like blood. Are you getting in to the Halloween spirit?
You don’t have much time until Halloween so let’s get started on the recipe. Don’t worry, it’s really easy!
Let me know how it turned out for you and if you are planning a bigger Halloween party have a look at my Halloween menu this year:
I look forward to seeing your witch finger, use the hashtag #shoothecook on instagram so I can see the result. Happy Halloween, friends!
Witch fingers, a horrifying sweet for Halloween. Are you getting in to the Halloween spirit?
- 1 cup (200g) butter
- 1 cup (100g) white sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tsp vainilla essence
- 2+2/3 cups (350g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup whole almonds
- 1/3 cup strawberry jam
Preheat oven to 170º C and grease a baking tray with a bit of butter.
Combine the butter with the sugar in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add the egg, the vanilla extract and beat together.
Gradually add the flour, baking powder and salt, continually beating until well combined. Then cover with film and refrigerate for 20’-30’.
Remove dough from refrigerator in small amounts. Take 1 Tbsp of dough to shape each finger. Put it onto a piece of parchment paper and use it to roll it into a thin finger.
Add an almond to the tip for the fingernail and press down a bit to secure it. Squeeze the cookie to form knuckles near the tip and on the centre of each one. Then use a knife or a skewer to make some creases. Arrange the shaped cookies on the baking tray leaving about two centimetres between them.
Bake at 170º C for about 15’-20’ or until slightly golden. Let the cookies cool.
Remove the almond from the end of each cookie; add a small amount of jam into the cavity and replace the almond, press slightly to make the jam ooze out of the tip.
