There are more than 12 granola recipes on my blog but there is always room for one more! 😉 I just love granola and can’t resist its lovely crunchiness. Today I am going to make a granola made of oats, almonds, peanut butter and thin slices of apple.
Simple ingredients are the key to this healthy homemade granola that I make time after time. I make my granolas as crunchy as I can, in this recipe the peanut butter and oil help the granola to form big crispy clusters that you may have to break down with your hands after baking.
I got quite creative making this granola and decide to use up the last few apples I had in my fridge. I finely sliced them and placed them on top of the granola before baking. It was probably the best thing I could have done to use up those apples. They were soft and delicious after baking. They were such a tasty addition to this granola. They also look so pretty on top on the granola so would make a good foodie post on your Instagram page 😉
There are many advantages to making this homemade granola:
- You know the exact ingredients in your granola
- There are no saturated fats, refined sugars or other highly processed things that you find in most store bought granola.
Once the granola is ready, it’s ready to be eaten! It tastes great mixed with a bit of yogurt for breakfast or a mid-morning snack.
This recipe is based on my homemade granola with only 4 ingredients, a simple recipe perfect for beginners that you can customise with your favourite nuts, grains and fruits.
If you are gluten intolerant use gluten free oats and you can substitute the honey for maple syrup if you are vegan.
