Christmas won’t be the same without its appetizers. I suggest these simple but irresistible crispy Pear & Cheese Tarts. Requiring only 5 ingredients these tarts are guaranteed to make mouths water.
This is a sweet-savoury appetizer. In the heart of these puff pastry tarts is a combination of salty blue cheese, sweet pear slices & crunchy walnuts. We just need to add a bit of each ingredient to each tart to create a tasty bite. Appetizers are just the start of probably a huge Christmas menu so better keep them small. Dress them up with a pretty platter and serve them warm, they are much nicer!
These pear & blue Cheese tarts are maybe one of the easiest appetizers you can whip up! Using ready-made puff-pastry means these are ready in 35 minutes!
As you can see throwing 5 ingredients on a piece of puff pastry will make great party food. I’m also making other easy and quick appetizers this Christmas, if you are looking for more ideas have a look:

These easy Pear & Cheese Tarts make a great appetizer for any occasion! Simple ingredients that combine really well in these scrumptious puff pastry tarts.
- 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry (or frozen)
- 1 beaten egg or olive oil for brushing the pastry
- 1 medium pear, cored and finely sliced
- 80 g blue cheese, torn into pieces
- 6 walnuts, chopped
- 3-4 Tbsp honey
Preheat oven to 180C.
Unroll the pastry onto a flat surface. Cut puff pastry into 9-12 even squares (about 7x7cm) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
With a knife draw a smaller square on each piece. Prick over this small square with a fork. Then brush puff pastry all over with beaten egg or olive oil.
Add 3 slices of pear on the centre of each square, drizzle with a bit of honey and bake for 10’ at 180C.
Remove from the oven and top with blue cheese and walnuts. Bake for another 10’ or until the pastry is golden and crisp. Serve immediately.
