Chefs, food bloggers, food photographers or enthusiastic cooks like myself, welcome to Shoot The Cook!
I’m Laura, I love creating, getting excited about new projects and experimenting with new things. One of my biggest interests, and by far my favourite!, it’s to eat, cook and taste new recipes.
I’m very happy you stopped by my little blog. A blog about healthy-nourishing meals and food photography, where I’ll share my best recipes and everything I know while continuing to learn about the world of food photography. In this blog shooting and cooking are one. Shoot the cook was created in 2015 as a space to pass on my passion for cooking, and to share my photography ventures to help you with your food photos. Let’s do it in a genuine and entertaining way. I hope my posts help you to get the best taste and photos from your dishes. I’m sure we will find inspiration and motivate each other to keep improving by sharing our ideas and curiosities.
FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
Not only will you see mouth-watering photos, but also my creative process. I’ll show how I set the scene, the lighting, the reflectors and the big mess I make in my tiny bedroom. All you need for taking good photos is a lot of enthusiasm and a small space no bigger than a school desk.
Along the posts, we will go through all the elements involved in your photo and how to control them…find out much more here Food Photography Tips
Here you will learn:
-How you control light
-How to use your equipment
-How to improve composition in your photos
-How to style and enhance your dishes
and much more…
THE FOOD
I come from La Rioja, a vineyards and wine land in Spain where Mediterranean cuisine makes a great part of our gastronomy. My meals are of course inspired by this, but you will soon learn how much fun I have experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Now don’t worry, I’ll only share the recipes that my tasters, family & friends like and enjoy (and brave tasters they are, I must say).
Shoot The Cook aims to make cooking enjoyable and fun, which is why I cook healthy, simple and flexible recipes with ingredients that you might have on hand. Our recipes are full of vegetables, fruits and legumes. I’m also a fan of whole grains such as quinoa, millet, brown rice and many others that we will discover together. But don’t panic, Shoot the Cook is also a place to indulge, with wholesome, delicious and healthy desserts, sweets and more.
ABOUT ME
I began cooking when I was a child by mixing whatever I found in the fridge. The turning point came about when I left home for university. My mom, from then on quite far from the cooker in my new home, made me realize it was now my turn. And I have never stopped since then.
I used to read my mom’s handmade recipe notebook and I said to myself “I want one of those when I grow up”. In such a different format but, here it is!
My first steps in to photography were landscapes, then I moved on to what is called “street photography”, and I got hooked. Then Food Photography knocked on my door and the more food photos I took, the more passionate I became about it. No cold outdoors, no reluctant subject and it is much easier to shoot something that doesn’t move, all you need is just a recipe book, your camera and last but not least: patience and creativity.
I would like we share our ideas, projects and why no our specialities. Contact me at anytime by the Contact form or by e-mail shoothecook@gmail.com. If you have a favourite recipe and have trouble shooting it the way you envisioned, you’re welcome to send it to me, I’ll try to do my best and hopefully I can offer some key tricks to improve the photos. Don’t hesitate to leave your comments and give critique on what is written in SHOOT THE COOK.
Please contact me if you are struggling with any of your photos or just if you want to say hi! Any feedback is also very welcome.
