My body was in need of this detox celery salad after a whole weekend of eating out. I love to discover new restaurants and try new foods but you usually eat much more in a restaurants than you do at home. Does this happen to you too? Do you feel like you need a healthy salad after a weekend of overindulging?
Weekends are perfect to plan your healthy meals for the week and start the week with a healthy salad. Today I’m sharing this celery salad because I wanted to tell you about this wonderful veggie. Celery is very low in calories, helps digestion and it is also a great source of antioxidant nutrients, including vitamin C and beta-carotene.
Salads are the best way to eat raw vegetables and absorb the maximum amount of nutrients from them. This Detox Celery Salad includes mixed leaves, carrot and onion; 4 simple ingredients and a lemon dressing that gives this salad a delicious citrus flavour. Salads can be simple and tasty at the same time. Give it a try!

Celery stalks add a unique crunchiness to this Detox Celery Salad. It is refreshing, delicious and best of all it’s healthy! Can we ask for anymore from a salad?
- 3 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 cups of green leaves, such as spinach, rocket, romaine, read leaf..
- 2 carrots, peeled and grated
- 2 Tbsp of diced red onion
- 1 Tbsp sunflower seeds or sesame seed for garnishing
- 1 tsp of finely sliced spring onion
- 1/4 cup of extra virgin oil
- 1/2 Tbsp of lemon (juiced)
- 1/2 tsp of mustard
- 1/2 tsp of honey
- salt and pepper to taste
In a large serving bowl, combine the dressing ingredients. Whisk with a fork until blended. Taste, and add more salt and pepper if required.
Next add the celery, the green leaves and the onion to the bowl and toss to combine.
Garnish with sunflower seeds or sesame seeds and enjoy.
*The darker the green in the celery the stronger its flavour is.
