You probably know by now that I’m obsessed with granola. I used to bake a different granola recipe every weekend but ever since I tried this Sea Salt Chocolate granola a few weeks ago this has been my go to recipe. This recipe is very similar to the Chocoate Granola recipe on my blog, but the sea salt makes it extra special!
Granola + Dark Chocolate + Maldon Sea Salt Flakes = Crunchy, Sweet and Slightly Salty Granola.
This sea salt chocolate granola can be easily made gluten-free, vegan or nut-free. Homemade granola makes the perfect healthy breakfast or snack!
Three years ago I stopped buying cereal and started making my own. I remember the first time I made granola at home, I just thought it was amazing and so easy to make. I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t made it before. But now homemade granola is such a popular breakfast food and you can find amazing granola recipes on practically every food blog, I especially like these ones:
Vegan Tahini granola with orange, cacao & mulberries
You can make these Granola recipes in about 30 minutes and most are made with the following ingredients:
- Oats: rolled oats, buckwheat groats, barley oats
- Nuts: walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, almonds, pistachio, coconut
- Seeds: pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds,
- Dried fruits: cranberries, raisins, goji berries, dates…
- Healthy oils: virgin olive oil, coconut oil
- Natural sweetener: honey, maple syrup, cane sugar, coconut sugar…
- Spices: cinnamon, cloves, ginger
- Others: cocoa, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs
I love to make granola because it is simple, easy and the result is so delicious! Don’t be afraid of sharing it with your friends, neighbour…most people just love granola. The other advantage of homemade granola is that once it has cooled you can store it in a jar and will keep for 2-3 weeks. I am such a granola addict though that sometimes I have to hide the jar so I don’t eat it all in a couple days.
I have so many granola recipes that I had to make a section of my blog dedicated to all things granola. Have a look! I’m sure you will find your favourite one.

I love to make this Sea Salt Chocolate Granola because it is simple, easy and the result is so delicious! Don’t be afraid of sharing it with your friends, neighbour...most people just love granola.

- 1/2 cup raw hazelnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup toasted or raw hazelnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut (optional)
- 2 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp sea salt flakes (Maldon)
- 1 + ½ Tbsp coconut oil (or sub olive oil)
- 1/4 cup agave or honey
- 1/3 cup dark chocolate (70-80% cocoa), roughly chopped
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.Preheat the oven to 160°C
Mix the oats, walnuts, hazelnuts, chia seeds, cocoa powder and sea salt together in a large bowl. Stir to combine.
In a small saucepan warm up the coconut oil and agave syrup (or honey). Pour over the dry ingredients and mix well.
Spread the mixture evenly onto the baking sheets and bake for 18-20’ at 160°C. After 10’ stir a bit to ensure even cooking and add the shredded coconut.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Add the chopped dark chocolate and toss. If you prefer you can add the chocolate when still warm so it will melt in to the granola.
Once cooled, store in an airtight containerand use within 2-3 weeks.
*Use any other nut you want.
*You can substitute ¼ cup of agave syrup or honey for 1 tsp of stevia.
